Price Control Measures Lessons for GST

  • Dr Divya Shukla Asst. Prof., Department of Shanskrit, Munnu Lal Mahavidyalaya, Kanpur

The Model Goods and Services Tax (GST) Act, which accompanies the Indian implementation of GST, contains an 'anti-Semitic clause' that allows companies to pass on cost savings to GST customers. The reactions of companies and commentators to the inclusion of this provision were skeptical. In this context, the purpose of this white paper is to study the price monitoring experience of Australia during the GST transition and to draw appropriate lessons from India on the possibility of implementing anti-win realizations in the context of India. This report contains an extensive and effective price monitoring mechanism in India, based on the Australian model, which confirms that consumers can receive all the benefits of GST approval at the expected low price due to tax reductions and expected tax reductions.
